Brief Bio – Rev. Gary F. Schmidt Rev. Gary F. Schmidt grew up in New Providence, New Jersey and attended Stockton State College. He graduated in 1983 with a BA in Visual Arts for Cinematography. Gary also committed his life to Jesus Christ while attending Stockton, and became active in church and student ministries. In 1982 he was Chapter President at Stockton for Inter Varsity Christian Fellowship. In the summer of 1983, Gary served with Alliance missionaries to the Cree Indians in Alberta, Canada. Gary married Debbie in 1984 and together they believed God was calling them to full time Christian ministry. Gary received his formal theological training at The Reformed Episcopal Seminary in Philadelphia, and graduated with a Masters of Divinity in 1986. He served as Assistant Pastor at Trinity Alliance Church, Pomona, New Jersey between 1985 and 1986. He was ordained to Christian Ministry on June 11, 1987 by the Metropolitan District of the Christian and Missionary Alliance. Under his pastoral leadership, Grace Community Church was founded and incorporated in Winslow Township, New Jersey and was formally organized in 1992. Gary continues to lead Grace Community Church as the Senior Pastor. Rev. Schmidt has been a Missionary Candidate, served on the District Executive Committee, the Suburban Church Planting Committee, the District Committee on Nominations and The Licensing and Ordaining Committee of the Metropolitan District of The Christian & Missionary Alliance. He taught Bible in the upper school of The Pilgrim Academy and served as Faculty Advisor during the creation of the student government. Through Market Place Ministries, Gary has provided chaplain services to the management and sales force of various companies. Pastor Gary enjoys walking with his wife Debbie, motorcycle riding, shooting, archery, hunting, bicycling, furniture refinishing, fossil hunting, model building, woodworking, violin, cello and guitar construction and repair. Gary and his wife Debra have four children. |
